I had booked an early flight back to Bangkok as we only had a few days before having to make our way South to Koh Phangan. 6 am start, I packed up all my remaining bits and pieces, said a massive thankyou and farewell to Dan and Sas and got in the taxi Dan had kindly booked and paid for. They really had looked after me these last few days, I was really sad to be leaving. I left theres at 7.30 am and managed to hit all the city traffic, so what should have been a 40 minute drive took and hour and a half, but I'd left i plenty of time so I wasn't worried. The airport was absolutely massive! I checked my luggage in and went through to what I thought was departures. I was really disappointed as there were hardly any shops or restaurants, not even a Starbucks! I had a little wonder round only to find I needed to take an undergroud train within the airport to the actual departures lounge which happened to be huge with every shop you could ever imagine, most of which were designer! I went to Starbucks for a nice mint hot chocolate and hot panini...ideal! I worked out I had actually bought a Starbucks meal in every Country, and managed to get a mug to add to my collection. The plane journey was ok, not too rocky so I wasn't too nervous! 2 hours later, we arrived in busy Bangkok and didnt I know I was back in Thailand. The que for the taxis was ridiculously long and so they used a ticket system. After waiting 40 minutes, I eventually got a taxi and made my way to the Chern Hostel where the girls were waiting for me. The journey took an hour and 15 minutes to get to the Hostel which was really difficult to find but thankfully, Sarah had sent me directions in Thai. I was nackered and pretty much fed up by the time I reached the hostel, and after having such a good time in Hong Kong, living in luxury, I wasn't that excited to be back to hostel living!
The Chern Hostel turned out to be actually quite nice. I was glad to eventually see the girls, they both gave me a big hug and we chatted about what we had done in our week apart. We got ready and walked out into Bangkok to find a decent place to eat. It started to rain quite heavily and we were all glammed up so we dived into a little thai cafe and had a piece of cake and a cup of tea. Once the rain had stopped, we carried on walking to find Ko San Road, one of the busiest tourist streets in Bangkok. It was filled with loud and busy bars, it looked just how it did on 'The Hangover'. There were a lot of locals trying to sell us stuff on the street so we quickly went to the tourist office and booked our night train to Koh Phangan in a couple of days time. I didn't have enough money so ventured out onto the busy street on my own to find the nearest cash point. It became apparent that everywhere in Thailand charges 180 baht at the cash machines to retrieve money out, so it made sense to take as much out as possible at a time, obviously hoping I wouldn't lose it. We found a nice little Indian restaurant and gorged out on a massive meal each. After, the girls wanted to do a bit of shopping along Ko San Road in an attempt to get some cheap stuff, but there was no chance of that as no one was up for bartering, and actually everything was similarly priced to at home. That's one thing we had come to realise, Thailand isn't quite as cheap as everyone had made out, and the locals didn't seem to bothered about selling their stuff at a cheaper price to you because they probably do quite well anyway with the amount of tourism there is. I wasn't interested in buying anything as it wasn't too long before I was heading back home to England. We did however, buy three t-shirts for the Full Moon Party saying 'Same Same but Different' on both sides - Sarah, Sarah and Chelsea!
After, we went for a drink in one of the bars but none of us were really feeling it, it was so loud and there wasn't really much of a vibe so we all decided to go and do what we actually all really wanted to...Cinema! We headed to a Mall with a cinema and watched the latest Hunger Games film, it was really good. By that point we were nackered so headed back to the hostel. I FaceTimed Dan, and then Naomi after. It was great to fll them in on what I had been up to. Then I hit the sack.
