Day 22: Santa Barbara.
After spending most of yesterday in a car, today was a bit of a lazy day - which is ok, because Santa Barbara is a lazy kinda town.
With all the streets lined with iconic towering palms and sea breezes coming in off the bay, it's the type of environment where it's hard not to put up the feet.
Regardless though, while we're here, we were determined to see SB. We started off by heading down the end of our street to the marina.
From there we walked across the beachfront past the wharf and back into the Main Street of town.
The street was full of shops, bars and restaurants (apparently there are 750 places to eat out here!). The bars were pumping at 10am - Sunday Footy is big business and thanks to multiple time zones, live games are telecast all day. Sports fans all wearing their teams' jerseys filled the bars, spilling out onto the pavement, setting a carnival atmosphere as you walked past.
Feeling lazy we then caught a tram back to the wharf and ended up having lunch out over the water at Mobys (the past couple of days we've learned seafood is obviously the food of choice in these parts!).
We walked off our lunch with a bit of a stroll back to the Inn, and rewarded ourselves with a swim and snooze by the pool (as said, lazy day!)
We're currently enjoying the free wine & cheese reception at the Inn, before we head down the street and pick some place for dinner.
Tomorrow we've got a short drive to LA, where we have just a one-night stay in Hollywood before we fly to our final stop off in Honolulu.
Did someone say tsunami?
