Up early again this morning. Went to the super pit mine lookout as the sun rose, great to see it in the dark and in daylight. The gold mine is so big and is even bigger below the ground, unbelievably it's so close to the town. We know now, why you would never by a car from the mines, the roads are lined with a hydra saline solution to minimise the dust.
Toured the royal flying doctor service today. They put on a great discussion, no plane in today as they were all out on duty. They feel we will be well backed up with our Epirb in an emergency as opposed to getting a satellite phone too.
Continued on down south. Stopped for a late lunch in Norseman, thankfully, I looked at the tyres on my side of the caravan and saw something sticking out. On closer examination, we could see the tyre was starting to shred open, exposing the steel belts inside. If this was not picked up we would have blown a tyre in no time at all and probably doing 100kms. We will buy 4 new replacement tyres and keep the best 2 as spares. In preparation for the trip, we were bought 2nd hand rims for the caravan to match the car, planning on putting the car tyres on the van and buying new tyres for the car. However, the set back was different to the car tyres, so we decided to make do with the tyres we had on the as they appeared to be in good condition.
Drove through a some of the recently burnt county side.
Staying tonight just north of Esperance. Hoping tomorrow to secure a site in Luck Bay camp ground in the Cape Le Grand National Park and stop for a few days, every one raves about the spot.
