Went panning for gold today- got about $12 total- won't get too rich this way. Nice to have a few days in one place. We are used to doing everything at warp speed to see everything so it is nice to have down time. Tomorrow we plan to spend some time on the Chena river. It is very slow and grandma feels safe enough to give it a go. (This is an earlier entry) Today we drove to anchorage. A long drive but not too much in between. We were busy in Fairbanks- panned for gold, rode a riverboat, watched dog mushers and kayaked the river. Busy time. We have just arrived in anchorage so don't know much about it yet. The drive here was like going through Banff and the rockies- Alaska style. Very scenic but it is raining and visibility is poor. The wlfi is poor so it gives me grief. Will try again.
