At one time I'm sure this place was something to see. Especially with the mill and other things working. It's still pretty neat to see but is in some disrepair. The owner died a few years ago and whomever is the caretaker doesn't seem to have the passion for it the inventor did. But that's true in many cases. But if you do get a chance I would still see it again. The ponds are mostly empty but you can see how they would make things work. A lot of work and care went into this. It seems there are 3 different ways to see everything. An Easy way on the brick path, a medium way that we took with some nature trails and the long way, lots of nature trails. When you first walk up you see a house with a smaller building. The house is private property and this canyon is in the back yard. Probably the whole back yard. You go up stairs, and down trails, across & through a couple of bridges. It's not a hard walk, just enough to keep it interesting. Everything has a sign with a description. You can even rent the church for a wedding for $135.00.
I wish I had known we could have taken the dogs with us. I like to challenge Truffles with different bridges and these two would have been fun.
If you're near Fulton, IL and have an hour or so to burn visit and imagine how wonderful it was.
