We went to Silverton on 6/5 which is a little historic town in the middle of no where. We did a tour of the underground mine. It was really cool experience that I won't forget. As we walked to the shaft we saw that the entrance was really small. mum who I didn't think was that claustrophobic when she saw it decided that the mine wasn't for her. At some points in the mine it was really small and we had to crouch down as we walked. The tour guide told us about how it was back then working in the mine. In the Mine they mined for lead and iron and we could still see some that was still in there. It felt really good when we came up back into daylight because all we had was torch light in there.
We also visited the mad max museum and went for morning tea at a little cafe. It was small and cosy and very different to any cafe at home.
On 7/4 we drove to Wilmington and camped in the bush. It was a great spot with lots of birds, and we ran around in the empty riverbed and played on the hay bales. We also went for a walk in Mt Remarkable national park, and walked through Alligator gorge. It made me think of the Grand Canyon and the way the water had worn away at the rock. It was awesome climbing on all the rocks and walking through the water on the rocks. There were 250 steps to walk down to the gorge, and I ran up them at the end. My legs were so sore!!!
