Oh my goodness this is the funniest day yet. So it is an early start everyone feeling mediocer, We are all travelling to Nga Trang today Us, Jus, Christine and Daryn on the same bus and Laurell and her Dad on a 1230pm sleeper bus. To start with our bus left late as it appeared to me having some maintenence issues but we soon got the go ahead to clime aboard. Best bus set up to date. Semi sleeper type seets like lazyboys basically free refresher towels and free water! Away we went. 3/4 of the way there we stopped for food and shared a yummy noodle soup and headed on to Nga Trang, or so we thought........chug chug splutter splutter the bus conked out. U oh, we sat thinking but the driver got ti going again and we all cheared!! Too soon, chug chug splutter splutter - DEAD. Everyone got off and he tried to start it as everyone pushed the bus, with no success. The poor driver triend his level best, nearly blew himself up at one point with sparks flying at his face while a passenger tried to start it as requested by the driver, what a sight. We were in a tiny down, one street wonder in swealtering heat and no one could tell us what the next plan of attack was. We finally made out that we would be waiting until 4pm to get picked up - we had broken down at 1230pm. One of the worst things was that we could not find a toilet as the town basically appeared to be all houses. Now after a night on the booze you know your gonna have to deliver some timber quickly at some point, but mix that with Vietnamese food and you are gonna have to make an express delivery. Grace managed to act out a toilet to a local and her let her and Abbey use the loo, western style with paper, BOOM. Now as we should have guessed every town has a dairy and a pub, and that it what we later discovered. We were able to find iceblock things and later a bar - haha didn't really resenble one but we were able to get warm beers - with ice in them and relax.
Fianlly at 430pm a half empty sleeper bus pulls into town and we hear Laurell who can't believe her eyes and claims she has come to save us. We all climbed in and lay down filling Laurell and her Dad in on the days events. But wait, the bus stops and an argument with the driver sparks up as he requests we all pay 45,000Dong (approx $3NZ). What- we broke down and deserve a refund and this guy wants money, WTF! Someone bargains him down to 30,000Dong and as that is abouit $2NZ it beats getting off the bus so we fork up and carry on our way. One big French Jockstrap was not having a bar of it and got off with his wife, that is like superman saving you from falling from a 20 story building, then says that will be $10 and you go no so he drops you to your death, what a foolio.
We arrive in and get accom together and near each other, shower up, eat (finally of a day of facing starvation surviving on crackers, beer and an iceblock) and then headed to the Why Not bar - a must if you come here. Vodka buckets, a bit of pool, drinking games and dancing was had. Some gals in the loo managed to break and entire sink, wierd, Laurell got too drunk and vomitted and Grace offered to take her home - just around the corner and come back. They climbed onto a motorbike and asked the driver if there was KFC in nah trang, he nodded and said yes. The gals thought they were in for a treat. However when he took them into an alley way accross town and asked them what cocaine they wanted they were a bit shocked (Britt thinks that here KFC must be code for Keen For Cocaine). They said no and made him take them home. Successfully doing so he then asked for 120,000 Dong, Grace told him to rack off threw 40,000 at him and left. She safely made her way back to the bar then we headed off in search of the beach party stopping to buy beer on the way and managing to get some free motorbike rides as well as even driving one. The beach party had great music, lots of glow sticks, Aunty Erin would have been in her element as they even had an air guitar stand (not that I could see any..?). We then headed home for some yarns and beers on the balcony. Abbey managed to con her way into driving a cyclo, it seemed pretty easy and a bit of fun too.
Uh oh, we awoke the next morning to find that it was actually afternoon - 1pm to be exact and none of us had woken up any earlier! We dragged ourselves out for lunch which was painful, best food yet but were too hung to make a dent in it so we headed to the beach for massages ($6) and a couple of swims. A quiet night in.
The next day we were refreshed and booked to go on a day boat tour over 4 islands included lunch, fruit party, free live music, snorkelling, visit to aquarium, and a floating bar. Aquarium was average, next stop was snorkelling, not as good as we have had but we got to do sweet bombs off the roof of our boat. We met some cool people on our boat - Adam, Marie, Kamala, Nile and Holland which made the trip a treat and good times. Our next stop was lunch and a live music show, lunch was a banquet, check out the pics oh my lord and clean up happened in seconds!!! The live music show was hillariuos with a "lady boy" playing tamborine, not a real lady boy just had coconut boobs and Mr Binh our tour leader continued to refer to him as a lady boy. They got people up form various countries and got them to sing a song that they played, musn't have klnown any NZ ones as they never asked us up, Dang!! C'mon who doesn't know 10 guitars. Lady boy got his own back though when he was the bar man on the or in the floating bar and told us he was lonely and not a lady boy and Mr Binh was the lady boy hahaha, it was happy hour on the floatig bar (unfortunately no pictures as we were in the water, but it was a man in a steel floating device in water and us in the water on rubber rings sucking back free rum with pineapple juice by the seconds!). Last stop was a beach visit and then fruit party on the boat on the way back to the dock.
Showered up and tea then Bahooozeroozahoo at Why Not Bar..again oh we love it! Met up with everyone from our boat tour played circle of death - although Marie from Belgium calls it a ring of fire - we knew why the following day....Fair to say more buckets were drunk, Abbey hung out with the local sales ladies, and drove another cyclo, and attempted to steal a real taxi with grace, got as far as in the taki and igition on with Grace riding shot gun, wrestles on the beach and Gravy and Britt wanted KFC and ended up getting a rando 20,000 Dong soup on the side of the road! AMAZING!!!
What wasn't so amazing way the following day on roller coasters, swings that fly over the oceans, the longest gonala ride over water and the evolution ride . . . . ok they were amazing but trhe hangover that made Abbey chunder after the swing ride - not so good. We went with Laurel, Marie and Kamala to Vin Pearl - amusement park and water park in one. Rides adn water park were awesome mixed with scary. Abbey managed to eat ice for lunch whilst we munched into soups and chips and pepsi's for our hangover cure.
That night we had to pack up and had nyum nyum nyummmy Mexican for tea before getting on the night bus to Hoi An. A bit claustraphobic for a start but a bit of reading, slotted some vietnam valium and we arrived as we woke up - 730am (12 hour bus ride overnight).
