Short bus trip today - thank god! we werent feeling a 100%. Found a hotel to stay in that has our own computer with internet in our room, along with a tv and 3 single beds...we made very good use of these all afternoon, only venturing out for lunch and dinner and a meander round town at night time. We found a KFC once a gain, and dabbled in a potato and gravy and fries for dessert...still no sightings of a mcdonalds yet!
Booked to go on a tour of Hue for our only full day here. We started with the Citadel which was where the emperoros lived and the head quarters for vietnam until Uncle Ho took over in 1945 and it is now more of a tourist sight. Pretty massive, couldn't see it all due to time and restorations and one part was the forbidden city so unable to access. Had a tour guide which was great for hearing the history.
Next stop - a garden house. again some good history but has nothing on Queens Park!
The first Pagoda/temple built in Hue was our next destination and it was pretty cool, one of the best wev seen so far and some great views over the river.
Buffett lunch - we were clearly excitted about this but a bit let down, left with a full stomach tho all the same.
3 tombs in the afternoon, but we only went to one as the were pretty expensive. The one we seen was of the second empereror and this place was huge. it covered 20acres with seperate building representing a body and rivers/ponds everywhere! pretty amazing really.
The tour finished off with a dragon boat ride (the boat was literally a dragon) along the river and back to the city. It was a mad rush back to the hotel, quick dinner and awiated our sleep er bus to take us to Hanoi. Luckily we were first on the bus to have the pick of seats, however this put pressure on to get th ebest with britt moving 3 times until she was satisfied and grace twice, which is understandable when your travelling for 13hours!
