Arrived into Siem Reap in sweltering 35degree humid muggy heat, got visa's ($20US), through customs and greeted by 20 keen, enthusiastic taxi drivers wanting a piece of us! We obliged and gave our services to Ros, who was quickly renamed rossy! The highlight of the taxi was the front seat seatbelt which was electric and fastened itself on the closing of the door and AIR CON! Ros talked himself into being our cheuffer for the day at a cost of $25US.
Settled into some great accom, $10US each a night, air con - this has become essential, and 3 triple super king single beds and ensuite!
By this time it is 9am, following a day planning meeting with Ros we headed for Angkor Vat - which basically is temples galore - at least 50! A few bahtering deals later with the outcome of hats, sunglasses, book, umbrella and fan we were set for 6 hours of exploring many temples with Ros transporting us between each, with a stop for lunch - coconut drink gets a 2/10 for taste but 10/10 for look as you drink staright from the coconut! Absoloutley amazing, you need to get here and check it out for yourself...
Buffet and cultural dance show for dinner, and you wouldnt believe it our first beer for the trip - fair to say 3 big bots were gone in seconds...
Some interesting food in the buffet, britt ripped right into exploring everything wer have nick named her bazza the beast, luckily no runs yet...
DAY 2
A well deserved sleep in until approx 10am in our air con room - even had to pull the blankets up half way through the night!!
Floating village on a tuk tuk today $6US return trip on tuk tuk, $15us each for trip on boat out to the floating village. Approx 1.5hr trip. Highlights were visiting a school and donating pencils, getting high fives and photos with all of the kids, seeing a floating gymnasium with kids playing vollyball, seeing a kid with a snake and seeing about 20 crocs in a pool!! Overall tho, a real eye opener and well worth a visit!!!
Lunch at the Red Piano on return to town on Pub street and a geeze around Siem Reap town. Grace and britt got a massage of a differece - a fish massage which the marketing campaigne read "Please feed our hungry fish with your dead skin". It took a bit of getting used to and the fish flocked to Gravy's feet the most as her feet are basically one step away from the Grave hahaha.
Home for a shower and headed out for a night on the town. We started off with a few vodka's in our room and then hailed a tuk tuk to town. Dinner and $1 cocktails went down a treat. We even met a canadian dude who was 67yrs with a 28yr old cambodian wife who was pretty funny, even threatened to take a hit out on our heads fo $5 with the cambodian mafia when we got a bit too cheaky!!! He called his wife Mumy and said he had 3 cambodian kids at home, no babysitter required you just lock the gate and head out for the night!
Next pub was called Angkor What???? They had a slogan promoting irresponsible drinking since 1885 which caught our eye. We bought $5 buckets of cocktails and got a free tshirt. Played a few games of pool and party'd on the booths! However this was not enough partying for us we wanted to go in search of "disco tech". We hailed yet another tuk tuk which took us to a huge night club which reminded us a bit of a larger scale of the sugar shack with dancing stages all around - we hit everyone until we hit the pillow.
We have a bus ride to Phnom Phen leaving at 7am
