Traveling with my friend, Lauren, on the See The World Tours, British Isles Cruise. Our flight from Toronto was delayed until 0330am, so we arrived at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel at 200 Westminter Bridge Road, London E1 7UT around 5pm.
We went to dinner in one of the hotel restaurants, which had amazing Japanese food. After a good night's sleep, we had a nice breakfast in the hotel and took off in a breezy, low 70s temps day to the London bus tour (a hop-on, hop-off bus double-decker bus), using our London Passes which we had previously purchased online.
First stop was the Tower of London where Simon, the hilarious Yoeman Warder, gave us a tour of the main grounds. We also stood in line for about 30 minutes to see the Crown Jewels, which are amazing as you can imagine (no photos allowed).
We then took the bus to Buckingham Palace, by which time it had started drizzling. We took several pictures in front of the Palace, then walked over to Westminster Abbey, where the line was outrageously long to enter, especially waiting in the rain.
So, we walked back towards Buckingham Palace to catch the bus. Along the way we stopped at a really cool little cafe, the Illy Cafe, and had another Asian-inspired meal, which was very tasty and not too expensive. Bought some extra mousse to take back to the hotel. Got back on the bus and saw a few more sights including, Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, some foreign embassies, and some very exclusive residential and shopping areas.
We had a before-dinner drink at the hotel in the Primo Bar. I had a Brandy Dandy since my name is Sandi. Had a very nice dinner the the Brasserie Joel in the hotel. Off to the docks in Southampton in the morning to board the cruise ship. VERY NICE DAY IN LONDON.
