We had our 4.30am alarm and were just about ready for 5am. We all walked out of the hotel and were met by the tuk tuk guy. He took us to Angkor Wat which is the best place for watching the sun rise.
There were lots of other tuk tuks on the road doing exactly the same thing. When there we arranged a time with him to be back and walked inside the gates. The building was beautiful in the morning sky. We found a place to chill and take photos, the sunrise was beautiful. We then went into Angkor Wat itself which is the largest religious building in the world apparently and I can confirm this place is huge. You could walk in and around the whole thing which was great for having a proper explore. We went back to the tuk tuk and he took us to the next temple. There were a couple of cafe type places just before the entrance so we sat at one and had breakfast.
After we'd eaten we went inside for the next temple which was yet again amazing walking in and out of the whole thing. It was about 8.30am at this point and we were all boiling! Again back in the tuk tuk we were taken to another temple, this one is where the film tomb raider was filmed it was nice but too many people and tour groups ruined it a little. The last temple we went to was a smaller one and by this point it was getting annoying to come in and out of the tuk tuk with people trying to sell you things right in your face.
We got into the temple and had a walk round we'd just about finished when a guy shows us something round a corner. James looked first and then shouted us over saying we HAD to see this. It was the most enormous live spider I've ever seen, it didn't look real and then the guy touched it and it moved! We walked back to the tuk tuk and back to the hotel. We got back for 1.30pm ish, got changed and went straight in the pool as we were all so hot. We spent quite a while in here talking to other people who are travelling. We got out around 4 ish to get showers then got a tuk tuk into town to Pub street to find something to eat. Sam and steph fancied curry so I went along with it too, my first Indian curry since we left India. James fancied something else. A short walk around the night market getting shouted at "lady you wanna buy something"
then back in a tuk tuk to the hotel, it was about 9pm and we were all shattered after getting up at 4am so looking forward to sleeping!
