James and I got up early ish this morning and headed out for breakfast, Sam and Steph had said they wanted a lie in this morning. We first found a place which did coffee and had wifi. We walked a little further up the road and found a restaurant which did breakfast at a reasonable price. We ordered breakfast then sent a message to the girls saying where we were, they came after we'd eaten and had their breakfast. We talked about what to do with our days here, James mentioned he had seen about a tour with quad bikes and a trip to the killing fields all in one. We all thought this would be cool so James sent an email asking if we could go tomorrow. Hoping we can do this tomorrow we decided to use today to do any very last shopping bits and bobs as nowhere from now on will be as cheap as here. We separated from Sam and steph as we had a few things on our list and they were happy to be going slowly. We went back to guesthouse first to sort a few things then out to get James a hair cut. He had two Indian hair cuts and only one in Cambodia since but this one only cost $1.25! Next we went to the market to see if we could find badges to sew onto our bags as we've been collecting them as we go along, we also wanted a New Zealand guide book and a t-shirt for me. The market was hectic with fresh meat, fish and fruit being sold too. We got some oranges and tried jack fruit, jack fruit is a strange fruit they have all over South East Asia. It grows on trees to huge sizes, the outer of it is spiky green and you eat the flesh which grows in little pockets on the inside. It tastes really nice, the texture is a little strange but sounds ok right? Well it smells so bad once it's been cut open its really hard to bring yourself to eat it! It's band from a lot of hotel rooms and public transport because of the smell, it smells like vomit! It's really hard to believe that it tastes nothing like it smells, believe me it took a while for me to work up to trying some. After this we went to a nearby mall for a look around it had lots of floors with the top having a skate park on it, there was also an electronics shop selling TVs one of which was an 84" flat screen TV $16,000! We got a tuk tuk back to the guesthouse, Sam and steph back there already. We went to talk in their room for a bit before going out for something to eat and heading back.
