We got up this morning fairly early to get our things together and make at least a bit of a plan of where to go once we pick up the car. All organised we walked ten minutes to the rental place. There was a bit of a queue but we were eventually given the keys we headed down to the garage to get the car. The car is automatic which James has never driven before so it took some sitting and getting used to. It took a little while to get going and then to actually get out of San Francisco. We took the Bay Bridge out of San Francisco which was a very impressive bridge. We pulled over for a breakfast stop and to work out where we were and where we wanted to be next. After a walk around we went back to the car and decided on a place to try to get to for today and find somewhere to stay for the night. We got to a place called Tracy where we found a Motel 6 where we got a room for the night. We checked in, the motel was exactly what I expected from an American motel. We sorted our bags so that we won't have to bring our big bags into the next motel and just leave them in the boot (of if you're American, the trunk) of the car. We had a TV which we put on and caught some news. It had said that at 2.30pm this afternoon that there was a bomb scare on the Bay Bridge that we had only just driven on earlier today. A little scary! We went out to get a map from the petrol station over the road and a few beers. We went back to finish packing our bags and drink a couple of beers before going out to get some tea. Not much choice except for fast food so we went to In and Out Burger, so much better than any Mcdonalds I've ever been to. Back to the motel to work on tomorrows plan and get some sleep.
