Angkor Wat with a hangover.
26th Feb
I was as rough as a bear's backside so i went to the cafe next door for an over priced cuppa in an attempt to sober up and Jonnie came in shouting that the tour guide and tuk tuk were waiting.
Bearing in mind we had hired them both for the entire day i told Jonnie to stop stressing as i could tell them to leave whenever i wanted. (we wanted).
But no, he just did not get it and just scowled at me.
Just because he had blown all his money on Charlie perfume and only had 3 hrs kip he was proper on one.
Our tour guide made up in enthusiasm what he lacked in English bless him. He was so keen and we were just half asleep dribbling most of the time, we just wanted to go back to bed. I really am getting too old for all day boozing sessions.
The day was red hot, so as usual Jonnie choked me whilst he was spraying himself in a cloud of sun block. As if he can't wait til we stop and he gets out of range.
"There is lots of walking today" says mr tour guide.
The last thing we needed on a hangover.
Angkor Wat is part of a big network of about half a dozen temples, and old tour guide wanted to make sure we saw the lot and got value for money.
Actually they were all really amazing. The first one was really high and you can climb up it, so we did, and really suffered with the heat and the head aches. Also Jonnie has the agility of a dead elephant and is scared of heights, so it was not really good idea.
I was convinced Jonnie was going to break the proud tourist board record of no one ever falling down the side of a temple, but amazingly he did not.
By lunch time we were really flagging, but the biggest and the best, Angkor Wat, was yet to come. 2 hrs of walking round and round and up and down in blistering heat finished us off and we told mr tour guide to call it a day.
I took absolutely tons of pictures and they all came out really good as it was nice and sunny, and there are even a couple where i even look slim and a bit muscly so it had to be guaranteed they were on the card that broke. So the picture you see is off the net, but the same as what i had taken. Unless the ones of Gary Glitter are still on.
So a quiet night in to recover before we headed off back to Jonnie's favourite, Pattaya in Thailand.
And yes i have realised that i sometimes spell it with two t's and sometimes with one. If you had noticed, well done but don't ask for a valid explanantion.
Next installment..............Cambodia to Phoi pot..the road from hell.
