Well we've been here for 3 nights and we depart tomorrow. The journey here wasn't too bad, it was 12 hours but the bus was reasonably comfortable so we managed to sleep OK. Soo much better than the sleeper buses which are more expensive and the beds are are crippling for anyone over 5ft.
Nha Trang has a 6km beach (a little littered) and is quite lively with lots of developments up and coming, like the Sheraton is getting built and a few other big hotels. The hastle from street vendors here is the worst it has been, they are relentless but we try to be polite and say no thanks to books, sunglasses, jewellery, ciggarettes, moto bikes, tours etc. We think these people would be put to better use collecting rubbish along the beach front. Another persistent pest is THE RATS, they have been present in most cities through Thailand and Vietnam, walking along telephone wirers, scuttling along the streets... HORRIBLE! This evening we decided to treat ourselves to a sunset cocktail at one of the plush beach bars, when we were waiting for our drinks we saw a rat scurry across the sink, that was enough to move us on!
The best thing we've done here is go diving. The weather was good so we went for 2 dives around the neighbouring islands which form a national marine park. It was Kim, myself and a Russian dude. The highlight was swimming along and then seeing a Green Turtle swim along beside us. I nearly screamed (which is tricky when diving).
Tomorrow we begin our 3 day Easy Rider trip. We both have a driver on a Harley and we cruise into the central highlands, stopping in various places and into Dalat and then back down towards the coast. Should be great fun, so we'll send a wee post after that.
