Today started, unsurprisingly early, with the kids beating down the door to head back out into the mountain bike tracks. Whilst Andy and I enjoyed our morning coffee, we could hear shouting as the kids went up and down the jump track, Oliver giving Elizabeth pointers on how to tackle the biggest, steepest jump.
Once we were up and ready we went out on the trails. The boys went to explore the blue whilst the girls stayed on the green. We started on a blue but Elizabeth changed her mind so we went back to the jump track. We were having a great time and Elizabeth was encouraging me to go down the steep jumps. There’s nothing like embracing your fears when you see your five year old doing it! Sadly it came to an end when E took a tumble and spent the rest of the day proudly showing her battle scars.
We drove to Loch Ness for lunch and went to the Loch Ness experience centre which gave a summary of the fascinating history of the lake and its monster.
After lunch we checked into our campsite and wondered down to the waterfront where we had a boat trip booked. It was fun going out on the lake and getting a great view of Urquhart castle. We looped round past some of the deeper section of the Loch before the kids got to drive the boat back - you can imagine how thrilled they were. A definite highlight.
