Our journey north today past mountains, glans and lochs, was dominated by the spectacular view of the Scottish highlands… or at least it would have been had it not been for the mist and rain. What we did see of it was stunning and enough to wet our appetites to come again. We did manage to stop a couple of times to marvel at the scenery and take some pictures.
Our main stop of the day was at Glencoe visitor centre where we got a bite to eat and had hoped to do a walk but the kids weren’t enamoured about walking up a hill in the rain. So instead we went to the viewpoint and watched a short video about the Glencoe massacre. It really is stunning here.
We’re now camped on the shores of Loch Linnhe by Fort William. Worryingly, we saw a sign saying the Skye ferry isn’t running so let’s hope for better weather by Sunday! Also no luck on Oliver’s bike. It’s almost certain he needs a new crank and it’s not a part people stock. Even Amazon prime can’t help us this far north. Oliver is very upset that we may not be able to fix it until we get home. Our next chance is in Inverness. Shame as we’re going to a cycling Mecca tomorrow and he was hoping to cycle down the mountain.
