Today we journeyed west along Gibb River Road to Ellenbrae Station. The camping area is informal and small, surrounded by bush and wildflowers. There are only maybe ten groups camped here, so it is really quiet, a welcome relief after El Questro.
The amenities block is quite a curiosity, a stone-and-iron building with a single toilet, shower and bath, with hot water provided by a "donkey" heater, a large cast iron cylinder in which you light a fire, and a water pipe spirals around inside the cylinder, soaking up the heat. So the boys enjoyed their first bath in more than three weeks.
We had our third campfire of the trip tonight, under a brilliant starry sky, with toasted marshmallows and a good game of "Coffee Pot". Love it.
Grandma seems to have survived the corrugations, but not so Poppy's tyres. Two flats today from sharp stones, the first in the sidewall and the second in the tread. He has patched up one of them, lets just hope it holds together and we have better luck tomorrow.
