Switzerland must have heard our blog comments and put on another beautiful day for us. The tent was dry when we packed up and all the washing too! Yay.
This morning we walked along the lake front into Lucerne to 'see the sights' and came across a number of super-sized swans. Our tourist map was kind enough to have camera icons indicating the good photo spots. The first one was not difficult to find with the sea of camera toting tourists crowded in the area taking photos of the Old Chapel Bridge. With flower boxes full of flowers of every colour along each side of the bridge it was very pretty. Inside the bridge they had paintings depicting scenes in history - if only we could read German they would have made a lot more sense ... ah well, next time eh.
Being an old town, Lucerne had its share of old buildings. They also had some of the old town walls and turrets still standing ... but we were too lazy to go up them (been there done that ;) ).
Probably our most interesting stop was the Dying Lion monument which was created in memory of the Swiss men who gave their lives in war. We thought it would be very small but it was in fact 10m long and 6m metres high and carved into the rock face. It was very impressive.
After a swift walk back to the camping site along the lake front again to pack up the tent and car and we were off again. We drove through Liechtenstein which wasn't too exciting but at least we can say we've been there :) I had blisters on my feet so we didn't feel like going on any of the hiking tracks.
We drove on through the stunning Austrian and Bavarian alps to Oberstdorf where we are camping for the night. Gertie tried her hardest to bring us back onto the Swiss highways but we repeatedly ignored her and navigated our own way through the Austrian motorways instead. Oberstdorf is a rather small town in Germany with not a lot to see but it's on the way to the Neuschwanstein Castle.
We're a bit ahead of 'schedule' at the moment but I'm sure we'll find places we'd like to stop at for longer. The joy of winging it!

Monique I love your xxxm from the last two blogs!! Haha.
Brett Lol - that wasn't intentional! We wrote those without internet access and were going to check how high they actually were before posting. Oops!
