Italian learner driving test we picked up, translated using our best Italian dictionary plus a bit of road experience to fill in the missing pieces:
Question 1: If the speed limit sign displays a 110 and it is raining, what speed should you drive?
a) 90km/h
b) Depends how hard it's raining
c) Speed limit? What's a speed limit? That number is just a suggestion.
Question 2: How many lanes of traffic should be in a two lane round about?
a) Two
b) Three
c) What's a lane?
Question 3: What is the appropriate length of time to wait before tooting your horn at someone who is not entering a roundabout?
a) 5 seconds
b) Half a millisecond
c) Tooting your horn is how you should announce your impending arrival at the roundabout entry
Question 4: If you are in a left only lane, which direction should you next proceed?
a) Left
b) Straight (it is allowed too)
c) Again, what's a lane?
Question 5: When preparing to pass another vehicle, what should you first check?
a) There is a clear amount of space for you to safely pass
b) There is almost enough space for you to pass, any oncoming vehicles can brake to let you complete your pass
c) Nothing. If you cannot see oncoming traffic (such as around a corner), it does not exist. If the there are oncoming scooters visible, they are able to move into the dirt verge to allow you to pass.
Question 6: True or false, you should drive with your headlights on at all times in non-urban areas to be visible to oncoming traffic?
a) True
b) False
c) What's oncoming traffic?
If you answered all a, you have failed and are clearly not an Italian driver. You might be better suited to obtaining a license in another country.
If you answered all b, you have potential and may now proceed with your 'L' plates displayed visibly at all times. A litre of vino in the morning should help you fit in with the other vehicles.
If you answered all c, you are clearly an expert in Italian driving already. Congratulations, there's no need to grant you a learners as you have got your full drivers license.
