Summary
We both really enjoyed the east coast of Spain. After the constant 'on-the-road' we experienced in Morocco, it was nice to slow down considerably and just enjoy the moment. We farewelled Mark and De'anna, the couple who we'd travelled through Morocco with, the first morning back. It was great to have travelled with them, we learnt so much from them and they helped us out considerably especially when we had car troubles. Apart from a short detour into Cordoba, we basically stuck to the coast. We did manage to check-in to a campsite and listen to the Triple J countdown on Australia day. We did however accidentally send text messages to our friends a day early at 6am Sunday morning their time - sorry about that……
We were treated by a visit from Rochelle and Jasmine, Brenden's sisters, who were over in the UK visiting friends and were kind enough to meet us in Valencia for 3 days. It was great to see them and also great to enjoy the comforts of apartment living for a few days. We walked about 25km's around Valencia one of the days, that was tiring to say the least. But honestly it was great to catch up with them, we were both a bit depressed when they flew out back to the UK.
Barcelona was definitely a highlight. The architecture and just the vibe of the city was quite enjoyable. We also managed to fluke being there at the time of the Festival de Santa Eulalia. This is the festival where they make the human towers - awesome experience. We then drove up to the French border briefly detouring to the most eastern point of Spain.
This was the part of the trip where we got our budget in order as we were never going to make it around Europe at the rate we were going. We fixed our portable shower and we've now resorted to hand washing everything so the need for campgrounds is no longer required, unless of course we need to listen to Triple J Hottest 100. This should save us heaps.
In total we travelled just over 2000 km's over 3 weeks, considerably less than what were doing in Morocco. We didn't have any problems with Hugo however we did discover the back right tyre had scrubbed away on the inside so we had to replace that when we got back into France, including the shock absorbers - ouch!!! So much for our revised budget…..…
