Summary
The south of France is truly beautiful. It's got some amazing architecture, beautiful coastline and some of the best preserved Roman ruins we'd seen.
We started from the Spain border just north of Barcelona and continued to Perpignan where we spent a couple of days getting 2 new back tyres on the back. We then made our way to Nimes to visit the very well preserved Colosseum that is definitely worth the visit. From here we drove little bit further north and spent an afternoon and evening exploring and photographing the quite impressive Ponte De Gard which is an aqueduct. The following day we explored the theatre in Orange and battled the rain and wind in the process. The next couple of days consisted of trying to replace the back shock absorbers at Aux en Province so as not to destroy the 2 new tyres that we'd just replaced on the back. We also had dinner at Val and Nigel's (friends from Philippines) brothers' restaurant one night that was most enjoyable. Got a little bit drunk as expected and slept in a carpark on one of the main streets. Just like teenage days really.
From Aux En Province we headed along the coastline through St Tropez, Cannes and Monaco. All of them we didn't feel like we fitted in in a beat-up, dirty camper van and the weather wasn't brilliant in Monaco either. However we understand why the rich and famous enjoy this area so much, it is truly beautiful.
In total we only spent 10 days making our way from Spain and over to the Italian border and we only drove about 1000 k's. The weather could have been nicer to us as well but it is the time of the year for rain and wind unfortunately.
Speedometer: 139,341 km's
