This morning it nearly felt like a sleep in as we didn't wake up until 7 and weren't meeting Bikram and the horse & cart until 8.20am to go to the bus park for our non aircon $5 bus to Kathmandu. We had been assured it would only take 5hrs but knowing Nepalese roads we expected longer and longer we got taking about 6 hours of the bus roaring around corners and shaking and rattling all the way to Kathmandu. Getting a taxi straight to Hotel Happy Home we were greeted by Krishna & shown to our room, this time on the 5th floor. A welcoming Masala tea and we were out the door again on a mission to do some last minute shopping in about four hours until the shops closed. We went to Local Woman's Handicraft first where Ammie bought a few things, mum a couple & I just bought an embroided pouch. Nasreen even took us to see the two sewing rooms around the back which were basic and cramped to say the least but the woman all seemed happy to be busy working. Next mum and I went to speak to Mountain Mart about our trek & encouraging people to take less for the sake of the porters. I got a few souvenirs on the way back towards the organic cafe where we were meeting for dinner. Bellies full it seemed to signal the end of our Nepal trip as we returned to the hotel to pack. The next morning we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast before getting a taxi to the airport. The only delay to the end of our trip was our flight from Kathmandu leaving 1.5hrs late which in turn missed our connection in Kuala Lumpur but luckily we were booked onto the next flight to Melbourne 3hrs later & got a free meal at KL airport. All in all a very timely trip as it repositioned my mind set coming into contact with so many friendly but often poor Nepali people and reminded me of the blessings and chances I have in my life. Namaste!
