Here we are heading off on another adventure. This one, with Ammie & Mum is back to basics travel through Nepal. It was a bit of a last minute trip booked only 2 months ago but now we were waiting for our Malaysian Airlines flight to board for an overnight flight to KL. Luckily once we got there mum had a small amount of ringgit which bought us a coffee & 9 minutes in one of the airports amazing massage chairs. Bliss! Another 4 hours flight and we were ascending over the terraced hills of Kathmandu valley. Already having our visas we were whisked into what seemed to be the white person VIP line & then we took on the craziness of the baggage carousels where the Nepalese men seemed to be playing some hardcore version of baggage trolley bumper cars. Bags in tow we walked outside to our first breath of Kathmandu pollution laden air & a sign with my name on it. It was a hectic welcome to the city as our taxi weaved & honked his way into Thamel to our hotel where we we were greeted by the very helpful & friendly Mr Krishna. Our room was fine for $45USD a night & after a quick refresh we went to explore the streets & drop by our trekking companies office to sort out the final details of our trek. Somehow we walked completely the wrong direction & ended up seeing long sections of every street which came off the roundabout at the top of our street before we finally completed some crazy massive circle & found where we were meant to be. The trek sorted we stopped at a nearby cafe with rooftop terrace for an early dinner. I had a Nepali set which was a variety of pots of dhal & curry with naan which only cost about $2.50! We wandered back through the busy touristy streets lined with clothes & tea shops to our hotel. Mum & Ammie had a massage but I settled into bed early after a full on in your face intro to Nepal.
