Feeling far more refreshed after a nights sleep we were ready to explore Miami beach. The hotel breakfast was down the street at a restaurant but was a 'grab & go' affair with disposable plates/bowls/cups etc. The selection wasn't too bad with cereal, bagels, juice, coffee, yogurt & fruit. After fuelling up we wandered towards south beach, a couple of blocks over from the hotel. Along the beach side stretch were blocks of pastel coloured Art Deco buildings facing the shaded grass park which ran along the low sand dunes before opening up to the wide white beach. The street was mostly low rise hotels with restaurants in front plus the usual array of homeless & crazy people scattered through the park. We walked down to 1st street then back up through the residential streets to flamingo park. For lunch we found the Yardhouse, a pub with about 120 different beers on tap. The lunch special for $9.95 was a half (read full) sandwich with a salad. I had a turkey bacon sandwich with Caesar salad which was a typical American sized serve & I struggled to finish. Further down the same street was the Abbey Brewery with had stronger Belgian style beers so only Sean ordered a flight. It was dark walking back to the hotel to relax for a while & eventually we regained a small hunger so had not too greasy Five Guys burgers with the lot close to the hotel for dinner to round out a day of American style eating!
