It's cruise day!! We had downloaded the Uber app to use to get us to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale so after breakfast & a walk to the atm we were soon flagging down our über driver who's short fall was he barely spoke English. About 40mins later we were being dropped off which given Sean had a $15 credit it was only $19USD & took a 1/3 of the time of public transport. Check in was fairly swift, we dropped our bags (but had nothing small to tip the porter, more on that later) & proceeded through security with all the confused old American ducks who seemed to have never seen an metal detector. I felt very young! A small line for check in & then soon enough we were onboard. A short wander & the first stop was for a coffee on the 5th deck, then to the Gastrobar on 4th so Sean could test out his upgraded premium drinks package, then right up to the 14th to the buffet for lunch. Trying to be sensible I had grilled chicken with some salad & rice. And then had to try the choc mousse for dessert. We departed port at 4pm so watched from the top deck as we sailed out of the narrow heads & left the Florida coastline behind. We went to the observation bar for a drink which took a surprisingly long time as they seemed short staffed plus had a new guy on. Celebrity seem to have done some cost cutting as we didn't get any nuts plus they seem to have taken away the trays in the buffet so people can't load up with food. I just got my frozen strawberry daiquiri when I had to go down to the spa for the raffle draw which I inevitably didn't win so returned to my drink which was sweet but tasty. Sean's bag hasn't arrived last time we checked so we went back to the room & there was still no sign of it so on the advise of our room attendant we checked with guest services who put a search out for it. We did a lap of level 6 as well just to make sure it hadn't been left at the wrong room. Eventually maybe an hour later it was bought to the room & had gone missing as the tag was torn off, we blame the bag porter we didn't tip. Before dinner at 8.30 we stopped for a drink at the gastropub then went to the main restaurant to be escorted to our table which we shared with an older Puerto Rican couple as well as an IVF doctor from Germany & an American guy who works FIFO on a gas rig in Senegal. In honour of dad I had the prawn cocktail to start (they have cut dinner from 5 to 3 courses!) then Grilled Salmon followed by Crepes. We had a nice red with dinner then Sean had another drink at the gastropub before we returned to the cabin for the night.
