We arrived in Stone Town, Zanzibar on Wednesday by a 2 hour ferry from Dar es Salaam. Stone Town is an amazing town built by the arabs who used to trade slaves and spices. The buildings are all built from stone (who would have guessed) and had small alleyways between the buildings. Very touristy with upmarket shops and restaurants. We had 3 amazing days in Serengetti and Ngorogoro crater. We camped in the park and as their were no fences we were given strict instructions on what to do if we were attacked. For a lion just stand still, they only eat you if you run when they charge. For a buffalo hit the ground, they normally kill when they hit you with the impact and you have less chance of dying by being run over with their hooves. After a long 5 days on the Rongai route we finally conquered Mt Kilimanjaro. At 4500 metres I began to feel the affects of the altitude with a headace and feeling nauseas. I then began to vomit and from lunchtime onwards on day 3 couldn't eat anything. I was having a lot of hydrate drinks to keep the fluids up and was able to manage not to throw up again on day 4.
