So we arrived into Budapest early after a long, cold and crappy night! We had to get two trains from Krakow because the direct sleeper train was booked out. Learning from that experience we booked our Berlin train before we left the train station - so not doing that again!!
After finding our hostel we freshened up and decided to check out this cool little city that we've heard so much about. After a nice cheap lunch we did a walking tour of Pest which was based on communism and the history of Pest.
One thing that really stood out is how proud Hungarians are and how passionate they are about their culture and history. As Hungary was ruled by Austria for so long you can see why but what was also interesting is what the Hungarians invented - the first computer, floppy disk, laptop, the helicopter and ball point pen just to name a few - there you go! Exhausted as ever we ended the day with a rich Hungarian dinner that contained lots of paprika (high in vitamin C) then hit the sack!
Day 10 begun with a stroll in the sun and another tour up to Buda, the other side of the city. We both agreed we preferred the Buda side more as it felt more cultural, there was more to it and the views were amazing! After walking and walking all afternoon exploring this great city we ended it with an early dinner so we could make our 8pm overnight sleeper train.....Berlin here we come!
