Day 15 started with a tram out to the Old Town to stroll the city and do yet another walking tour. It was all going well until we got lost reading the stupid map! Both of us are normally pretty good with directions and reading maps but this really tested us! After running around the city, and us both beginning to snap, we figured out we were looking at the wrong part of the map (oops). We eventually made it to the square but accidentally joined the wrong tour before coming across the one we wanted and changing.
The tour was pretty good it started in the Old Square, showing us The Prague Astronomical Clock and hearing the story behind it. Along the tour we visited many buildings of Prussian architecture, learnt about all the different uprisings and the types of people that lived there at those times. The Jewish quarter took up a fair amount of the second half of the tour visiting the Jewish graveyard which was so small that they had to bury people up to 12 deep. The tour finished with a view of the castle and the Charles bridge which were amazing. The day ended with a cheap meal and an early night after all the partying the night before.
Today begun with a trip out to the magnificent Prague Palace and Cathedral. This place was beautiful! It was also the first warm and sunny day that we've had on this trip and what a great day it was to explore this part of the city! The cathedral was truely amazing! The architecture was something else! It was so grand and all the detail inside and out was so good that from the distance it looked surreal. We strolled the palace grounds and gardens and after an ice-cream and short sit in the park (clearly we're not use to the heat yet). We continued our walk up the hill to the lookout point where you could view this beautiful city from a far.
After a traditional lunch we walked the city again seeing and visiting other parts we hadn't seen including finally watching The Prague Astronomical Clock in action. After strolling and taking in this pretty city we ended with heading back down to Charles Bridge to see the city at dusk and what a beautiful sight it was!
Our tram ride back was interesting....We met this wacky 67 year old Canadian who led us and three Spanish guys on long trip home telling us his crazy life story in particular his views on the US, 911 and how much he dislikes the banks of the world! All in all he kept us amused and was he was harmless and definitely friendly enough! After three trams later we eventually got back to the hostel and packed our bags for our bus ride to Vienna in the morning.
