we were reccommended to stay at the San Remo here and what a sound bit of advice!the hotel is so sweet.still has 30's decor, plus original brass beds.a touch of nostalgia.everything close at hand.lots of history to this place. pier 39, well worth a look! it has it's own seal colony. an amazing sight and you can certainly hear them.lots of trams to use, which will take you around and downtown.they have a lovely cinema complex at Bloomingdales, where we watched Indiana Jones.loads of shops of all interests.the trams provide you with a transfer ticket, which lasts for two hrs. it was quite a bit cooler here , than Santa Barbara, but the sun was still shining.
we visited Alcatraz, by ferry, about 1/2 hr ride and had a tour around the prison. really interesting, quite eerie. well worth a visit.. also visited China Town.that's a busy area, bussling with people, but some very good bargains to be had. golden gate bridge is only a bike hire away and breath taking.beatifuls.
around the corner from the hotel, was a hill, which was called, the crookedess road, which has featured in many film car chases.amazing to see.
