Day 26
The journey from Lake Tahoe to San Francisco is more than we would like to do in one day so we chose to book a night at an RV park a bit closer to town to spend our last night. We found a park in Olema which is about an hour north of San Fran out towards Point Reyes in wine country. The drive from Tahoe to Vallejo is mostly boring Highway 80 but then turns out across the Napa Valley which is really scenic. We make good progress, arriving by lunchtime, which means we have the afternoon to sort out our belongings and get them packed before returning the RV tomorrow.
Mum has family who live relatively close to Olema in a place called San Rafael and although we have never met we decide to take a chance and contact them on a number Mum has for them, we leave a message and hope for the best. About an hour after leaving a message we got a phone call from 'Uncle' Pete and we arrange to meet the following evening once we are settled in San Francisco.
We walked the quarter of a mile or so down to a local restaurant where we had a lovely meal, we spoke about our trip and how sad we were that it was coming to an end but we were still looking forwards to our time in San Fran. When we left the restaurant it was really dark because there were no streetlights so we had to make our way back to the RV very carefully along the road.
