Brett & Lindsay's Travels
Lindsay's Journal....
After Prague we arrived in Rome. We spent three days there. The first day we arrived via plane around 2:00pm. We checked into our hotel which Brett and I hated because it was the grossest hotel we have stayed in yet. I immediately went to a hairdresser to have my hair colored brown (long story, mainly roots and its very dead). (dont worry mom it will be light by the time i get home). ps brett likes it. anyway, while i did that brett ran around town trying to find another hotel room but this did not work out. next was off to the Trevi Fountain where Brett and I threw in coins and made wishes that are supposed to come true by the next trip to Rome. we then stuffed our faces full of gellato and yummy italian food (a common theme we kept throughout italy). that first day we also went to the spanish steps where tons of young people gathered around, drinking, and singing with guitarists and singers. it was really fun. next day brett dragged me to the collusseum and the roman forum. we had a tour for both and it was really interesting. little fun facts-- (celebrity gossip if you will from the roman times) if something burned down during ancient rome the emperor was allowed to keep the land! so, when half (or something like that) of rome got burned down the people blamed the emperor (as they naturally suspected it was him) and so the emperor blamed Peter and Paul and had them murdered. (this is a theory, as i said "gossip", but i throughly believe it. also, they were really disgusting as things that happened at the collosseum are gross.
Next day went to vatican. sisteine chapel was nice but it really hurt my neck starring at the ceilling for that long. sort of ridiculous that all the wonderful artwork is so badly misplaced and too high to see the details unless u are a giant. oh yeah, also went to st peters. saw a dead pope. brett took pictures, it was gross. (i think).
next morning took train to florence. we went shopping and continued the gellato/food love affair with italy. we partied it up to chelsea's suggestion of going to Be Bop, which is a club that has a wonderful Beatles cover band. lots of fun, did make me feel old as all the people there were like 12. today we ate more, tried to go to some church but it was closed and went to the market and walked around most of florence.
