19th Well we have recovered from Sundays harrowing drive. Todays drive is one of a much slower pace. Heres the dumb part. The drive is along mainly 4 lane highway where nobody speeds, yet if it was a single lane road, everyone is going like a bat out of hell. Dont get it. 17th The Hotel Lalgarth Palace is pretty amazing. Made completely of yellow stone and wonderful carvings in the stone. The rooftop has nice views. Our room is small but comfortable. Our guide is waiting for us at 9am and we walk to the Jaisalmer Fort on top of the hill. We spend about 2 hours walking the rather narrow alleys taking in some interesting buildings. 15th More driving through the desert till we get to Bikanar. Its a pretty rough looking place. The drive was pretty uneventful today. The Palace hotel where we are staying,has a tent city along both sides of the road, so it doesnt look very good for a walk anywhere tonight. The Palace must have be grand in its day, but with lack of maintenance its a shadow of its former glory. We are kept awake by barking dogs, trains and their continually blasting horns. Sleep...

10th Well i am back as a solo traveller till tonight when Shauna arrives for our Essence of Rajasthan 15 day tour. Doesnt start till the 13th so we have a few free days. My first taste of Delhi is from the airport to the hotel. The traffic is utter chaos, very heavy fog, and lots of people everywhere. The hotel is only average, and the first room has no hot water, so i am moved a few times till i get a noisy room with hot water. Yes it is one big culture shock....
