Friday 21st June Trip up to Avignon - Florence the guide’s driving gave me no confidence - seemed to go round in circles to leave AIx - however she was great on her history. Walked through the Papal city - Pope’s Palace spectacular. Saw the Catgedral and walked in the laneways. Thursday 20th June A meandering day- nothing really planned. Looked at Musee du Pavillon de Vendome - Beautiful 16th century villa now holds exhibitions a heritage collection and houses exhibitions. Just our luck as was closed setting up a new exhibition. Mooched thru the village to Hotel de Gallifet - not a very interesting exhibition. Wednesday 19th June Arty day - after look at markets went to Hotel de Caumont - an 18th century villa now an arts centre. A collection from Guggenheim was exhibiting - Totally amazing seeing these wonderful art works. Lunch in the garden restaurant. Tuesday 18th June Up early as our flight to Marseilles via Paris left at 6.30am no problems flying Air France - our connections working so well. Marseille to Aix en Provence was meant to be by train - but couldn’t find a station ( meant to be one at airport - no one could help us-) so we were extravagant and went the 40 kms by taxi.
