Friday 7th July
Loving my Norfolk Island routine - up early, walk through the Heritage site, along Emily Bay , around golf course- takes about an hour - and back home for brekky.
Today I met Fiona and Jannica at the building where they are setting up a new business. Jannica is a qualified beautician- and the new business is "Beautique" - offering all treatments - very exciting opportunity for Janni. Up and running by September - they have to wait for a ship to arrive with all equipment and stock they have ordered. Bit to do to spruce up site - but all in hand with local tradies.
I then went to the northern end of island - to Capt Cook memorial. He landed on Norfolk during his travels in 1774 - named the island after a recently deceased Duchess of Norfolk. He reported back to England that the island was worth settling - for the pines ( for ship masts) and the flax ( robes, weaving etc) . The pines were not suitable and it took some years before the flax was woven correctly to be of value. ( Norfolk weaving is quite an art- with beautiful pieces created)
The look out at Capt Cook is so beautiful - and peaceful. Took time for meditation - would be a great yoga site. I'll take my mat next time.
Mid afternoon we planned a little ceremony to sprinkle some of Bob's ashes - so gathered up Norfolk family and a bottle of Shiraz and headed to the Poinciana Bob and I planted during our stay January 2016. A few words, a drink or two and ashes were sprinkled. I am sure he will enjoy checking on the kids and doing odd jobs for them. He loved the island - a sad/happy ceremony.
It is Harry's 12th birthday tomorrow - so extended family - Fiona's brother Kane, his wife Jodi, Fiona's mum Pat ( Puss still not well ) had a "party " for him. He is growing up so fast. Candles blown - songs sang - and world problems solved!!!!

Lyn Forbes Hi Jane It looks so peaceful. I'm sorry to hear the Puss is not well. Went to the Nambour Garden show yesterday but was overwhelmed by all the plants so came home empty handed. Looking forward to seeing you soon
