After a short bus journey but on a full to the brim little bus, we were pleased to arrive at Spot X and Surf Camp, it was here where we were to all have our free surf lesson! After checking in and having a tour of the place, we got shown to our little four bed portakabins and had a nice buffet lunch. Then we were given our surf theory lesson and put in wetsuits and given boards to head down to the beach. The boards are soooo much heavier than i expected and it was quite a way!lol! We all got in a semi-circle and were shown how to surf whilst on the beach etc before being told we could go and give it a try! I admit i only managed a few attempts before the leggie that was attached to my left foot to stop the board from getting dragged away, ended up dragging my bad foot away and so it put me off after that and i sat and watched from the shore. Watching was still a giggle though and it meant that i got a chat with the fit surfer dude!lol!
Absolutely shattered after that we all showered etc and made our way round to the tables for dinner. A mix of both cold and hot buffet and dinner was absolutely amazing, probably the best meal i had had in Australia, i loved it, and for someone who was not very hungry i cleared my plate. After dinner we were treated to a magic show from a guy from Belgium who is travelling around the world as a street performer. He was actally very good and suprisingly funny too. Gillian and i then made our way to bed quite early due to still feeling under the weather.
Next morning and we were up and breakfasted and on the bus ready to leave for 7am. A long day on the bus was ahead of us in order to get to Sydney and leaving at 7am meant getting there 4 hours earlier than if we left at 7.30am. So after 8hours on the bus we finally arrived in Sydney, our last ever journey on the Oz Experience bus was over : - ( We checked into our hostel, Base, and were pleased that Kyle, Liam, Katie, Lynn and me were all able to not just get in a room together, but we had also been upgraded for free to a 6 bed dorm and there was no single person in there, which meant it was just the five of us! After surfing the afternoon before everyone was pretty tired, so other than a trip to Woolworths for yoghurt we all stayed in that night. We cooked dinner in the hostel kitchen, and just chilled in the room listening to Kyle teaching Lynn songs on the guitar and looking up lyrics on internet to sing along! Clare, Ian and Darren all came in for a bit which was lovely and we all had such a giggle. Still a fairly early night was had by all.
Our first morning in Sydney we all got up to go on a walking tour. We had to meet at 10am and then the tour started at 10.30am. Due to the fact that we only had two full days in Sydney, Katie, Lynn and myself thought this would be the best way to make sure we saw everything and Kyle, Liam and Darren came along too. We certainly did get to see everything too, the tour itself lasted three hours, starting outside the town hall and finishing underneath sydney harbour bridge. It was such a good tour and it was all free, except for donations. We all really enjoyed ourselves and learned quite a lot of interesting things. When the tour was over, we chilled out on the green with an ice-cream and brilliant views of both Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, took lots of photo's and then walked across the Harbour Bridge itself. This was amazing and had such good views of Sydney, i didn't however like the fact that you could feel the bridge moving under you as you stood on it! We then strolled back to our hostel, all in all we'd walked for about 6 hours but had a really really lovely day. That night was Gillian's last night in Oz before flying home to the UK, so we all met up; Kyle, Liam, Lynn, Katie, Gillian, the Irish and me, and all went to the hostel bar, Scary Canary. It was karaoke night! What a night.....lots of singing dancing and generally being merry!lol! So horrible to walk Gillian back and say goodbye though after having travelled with her for so long.
Despite having gone to bed so late the night before, Katie, Kyle and myself had to be up and out of the hostel for 6.50am next morning as we were going on our blue mountains tour. A stop to see kangaroo's, toast and juice stop, wentworth falls, amazing lunch, furber steps and Katoomba 'world's steepest railway'. An absolutely amazing day with over 1500 steps in total, we were sooooo tired but could not have asked for better views and experiences. Wow.....it was so amazing and breathtaking that the photos even look like we have been photoshopped into them...awesome. As it was our last night together as us five, we went down to Darling Harbour and all treated ourselves to a nice restaurant dinner........just watching the boys with their all you can eat ribs made me full up! But what a lovely way to spend our last night together. We all flaked out as soon as we got home but it had been a really nice evening spent the five of us.
