So Disco picked us up from Surfers Paradise and i had an awful sense of Deja-vu, getting on the same bus, with the same driver and ironically waring the same clothes as i was the day that i fainted and hurt my ankle..........thankfully this time there were no incidents and we all arrived at Byron Bay safely with no new injuries!
On first arriving at Byron and our accommodation which was Holiday Village, i was not impressed. I think i put it 'this is where my princess side comes out!' Not only were we paying more than we had paid anywhere else but we did not get bed sheet included in the price, w would have had to pay extra, to which we refused and simply slept with our towels as covers!lol! But the beds looked dirty and horrible, we were told us three girls (Katie, myself and Lynn) were in a room alone and actually there was another guy in there, and we were told that the next day they would put us three girls in an appartment with Kyle and Liam and when it came to it said they couldn't! As anyone who knows me very well can imagine, i was not impressed and was dreading staying there............i have to admit though, it really was not that bad and ended up being a really good few days.
The first night and there was an organised night out for all of our bus and the northbound bus at Cheeky Monkeys- there was a VIP table reserved for us and $5 dinner menu. What a night though...good food, cheap drinks as well as free beers for our tables and lots of competitions with Liam bursting a balloon attached to a hose between Kyle legs in order to win a surf lesson worth $59, shame he lost the voucher later that night!lol! Then when it was time for dancing, we found the dancefloors were the tables...........brilliant, English health and safety would have a field day, but it was awesome, such a giggle.
Next day Katie, Kyle and me all got up and went for a wander around Byron, finding a nice little cafe on the main street for some breakfast. When we got back to the hostel we booked ourselves in for seakayaking that afternoon. At 1.45pm we were collected from the hostel and taken to the beach, we were kitted out with lifejackets and helmets.......most embarassing part being when the guy gave me the size lifejacket everyone else was having and it would not do up over my boobs so i had to have a bigger size! Anyways once suited and booted we headed down with our incredibly heavy kayaks, across a very scummy creek to the sea. About an hour and a half and 5km of paddling later and we were back on shore, unfortunately not having seen any wildlife at all, but suffering from seasickness and absolutely shattered! That night we had every intention of a quick dinner at Cheeky Monkeys and then early nights, however, it was VIP night for our hostel! This meant another cheap dinner, more free beer for our table (really wishing i drink beer!) and lots more competitions only tonight i also decied to take part. First up was a game requiring two couples, Kyle and I went up, a hose was placed between his legs with a balloon on the end, and it was a race to see which girl could blow up and pop the balloon first. Neither girl managed this, (although i was a lot closer than the other girl!) and so roles were reversed and Im pleased o say that Kyle blew fastest.......he won a mountain biking tour and i won free wine for our group. The next game had 10 people involved and was essentially 'Go Fetch'.........it was absolutely hilarious and i ended up with a glass with a straw in it, a boys t-shirt on, my bra over my top, a sock on my right hand, a condom on my left hand, a pair of boxers on my head, a pair of panties in my hand, a pair of jeans round my neck and a hat on my head........................and thanks to being the quickest in the final round, i won! Shame the prize was a $350 Whitsundays Sailing trip and we were travelling south so had already passed the Whitsundays! I put a girls name down for it that we had met that night and she was really really pleased, could not believe it. Not pleased enough to even buy me a drink though!Lol! Anyways after a bit more dancing on the tables and the stage, Gillian and I went and woke Kyle up who had gone home to bed ridiculously early, and we all went to get pies from the amazing 23 hour bakery!
Up early the next morning and Kyle, Liam, Katie and myself, made full use of the free bike rental from the hostel and biked to Captain Cooks Lookout, we left the bikes in the car park and did the rainforest walk up to the lighthouse. It was hard work and very very hot so at the top we all had a well desrved rest and a drink. After having a look around and taking in the views we set off back down the road way. This however, did not work out and we ended up in the wrong direction..........never follow the boys lol...........so we picked up the walk on the boardwalk that took us back to the car park. We then cycled down to the Green Garage which is like the Food Company at home, it was amazing and they sold strawberries sooooo much cheaper than everywhere else! I spent that afternoon pottring about at the hostel, reading and going on internet etc whilst Katie went to the beach with the boys. That night Kyle made us all yummy fajitas in their appartment and we sat playing goono and having a chat for a while.
The following day we got up and ready in our own time for once and had a lazy morning. The aftenoon i spent wandering around the shops with Gillian whilst Katie and Lynn were at the beach and Kyle and Liam were on their Nimbin tour. I discovered just how amazing Falafels were and finally invested in a pair of denim shorts (which i am now living in!). That evening a big girlies night out was planned..........not feeling to well, i got ray with the girls and then went to bed for an hour whilst they played games with the boys. An hour later Katie woke me to leave but there was no way i was getting out of bed, i had clearly caught Kyle's cold and i was feeling incredibly rough, so i stayed in bed whilst the girls went out. Was woken a feww hours later by Lynn coming in with the drunken hiccups.........was soooooo funny.......'Amber, amber, amber' 'yes lynn' 'did i wake you?!' hahahaha!
I felt rough still next morning and knew i looked it when all the Irish got on the bus with driver Muppett and said i looked rough and like i had had a very heavy night!lol!
