well arrived yesterday.............we drove from the dusty coast of cambria and cattle ranches as far as we could see................. decided to leave coast and cut inland...........stopped for a wee wee stop and a look around at SLOVANG.................youd think you were in germany but its actually a village that origninetd with danish settlers in 1900...............so everyone is a danish names and toms eyes wnet out on stalks at the view of the cake and pastries in the cafe we went into................i was gratefull for a decent cup of tea and so as the pot was huge i think i drank 3 cups.................we wandered SLOVANG and i boughta hat for my burnt scalp !!................we saw a water fountain and below it had a water fountainn for dogs, you stood on the button and it filled the dogs bowl..................only in america eh !!!...................................< br> we drove up and down dry dusty hills and it seemed to take forever.................finally coming over a ridge t a greener SANTA BARBARA.................larger than i thought..................so we were ina somewhat very large town by the sea full of boulevards full of shops cafes and bars, all cuisines.....................the motel was a bit pricey but we are well settled huge roomand have a pool four rooms along.........this morning we had a lovely chate to eliza on skype and we love her to bits................being away.............you miss what you love...............this morning we found grey skies tobe honest a releif, so headed to the SANTA BARBARA MISSION.............. a 17th century mission.................initally used to encourage the local indian tibes tobe converted...............it is a lovely mission and used today still for retreats.......................

Carol L Ummmm perhaps you are developing a sweet tooth. .. . . .that is one hell of a weight gain!!! Or should I be more polite and say since leaving home you have obviously put on a growth spurt?

Helen Abbott Oooh, the cakes and Danish pastries sound good!!! Glad to hear they are thinking of the doggies' needs - as you say, only in America! But rather that than the welfare of animals in some other countries. The trip all seems to be going to plan due, I'm sure, to your organising skills, Sue! Love the photos.
