Hello again world!
So We've been in Koh Samui for two nights now. We arrived here on Fiday at about 12.00 and pretty much just sat around on the beach which to be honest was pretty called for after a 19 hour journey to get here!!!
We had to take a 1 hour taxi to Koh San Road where we waited for another hour until our bus picked us up which was 11 hours overnight. Then we had to get a pickup truck to a pier where another coach got us and tool another hour to get where our ferry across the island was! We then had to wait for about half an hour until we got on the boat but it didn't leave for an hour and a half!! Finally it got moving and took about an hour an fifteen to reach the island by which time Tom and I could barely keep our eyes open!! So after a fairly chilled day we went to bed at around 12.30, the room is ok but pretty minamal but we had better get used to that!! We were so tired from the journey that we slept until about 11 the next day.
Afterwards we had a pretty chilled lunch on the beach playing cards and talking. But a bit later we took an adventurous 2 hour walk round one of the pinnacles of our beach. We had to scale some pretty slippery rocks but it was good fun and there was lots of stuff washed up on the shore to break and generally play with. After an hour or so we got round the corner to discovery a very private looking resort that looked like a honeymoon resort with a private beach and beds on the beach, all that jazz. So we hot footed it back to our beach!
In the evening we went and found an aussi pub as we had seen the Man U vs Man City game advertised there. We had a massive burger each, lots of beers, some weird cocktails and watched the game and as an added bonus, after the footy. On came the England vs Italy game from the six nations!! We were pretty chuffed and they thrashed Italy so it was a pretty cracking evening.
This morning we had to get up pretty early as we had the fishing trip to attend to!!! A little Thai man came and picked us up in his open top with seats in the back pick up truck which was pretty awesome. So we bombed it down to the key and jumped in a very rusty, dodgy looking fishing boat! It ended up just being us and three Thai guys! So that was pretty cool. We were a little dissapointed as they said we couldnt go too far out to sea and catch the big fish as the current and swell was way too strong. We weren't convinced but when we saw the waves further out we didn't disagree! So we ended up pretty close to the island catching Snapper, Grouper and Samd Fish! Then they fried it all up and we ate them for lunch with some fried rice, salad and chicken! We also had this awesome fruit called dragon fruit which is like a stronger, more flavoursome watermelon but with a deep pink skin!! Soo nice!
They don't really believe in gutting or removing the tail or head here so they just shallow fried the whole thing!! Crispy skin with tender flesh inside! It was all delicious. We didnt catch anything big but it was a really worthwhile experience.
Lots of love going out to everyone back home!!
Peace out
Xxxx
