Blog - hey hey peeps!
I wrote this whilst in Wellington but never got to post it! I will write a new one for the south island as well!!
I'm in Wellington at the moment getting ready to leave tomorrow for Nelson in the South Island! Exciting!
Its been a quiet few days but well needed I think! I've been sleeping lots and just generally chilling out. I arrived on Sunday night and had a few drinks and a pizza from dominoes! Reminded me of takeaways at school!
On monday I slept in until pretty late but eventually got up and went to the museum with this Irish guy called Connor who I've become friends with. It was a really fantastic museum with lots of stuff about geography and biology which is always going to get the thumbs up from me! We stayed there for a few hours and then went for a late lunch. We also went and saw Paul at the cinema which was very funny.
Today was also very good fun. I got up earlier and rented a mountain bike for the day. I cycled from the hostel about 6km to a wharf where I was told there was good fishing. It was very beautiful and I stayed there a few hours and had lunch but didn't catch anything! I did however see a wild penguin! It swam towards me, looked at me, then dived and swam off! Very strange! I later found out they are quite common in Wellington harbour! I took the more scenic bike ride back to the centre. It was around the coast which made it about 10km on the way back. Well worth the view though and very good practice for Sark! I just cycled around the city a bit looking for something to do. I ended up sitting on a park bench in the sun and finished my book! Then spent the next half an hour finding a new one! Books here are extortionately expensive though! For a standard paperback it costs 28 dollars!!! That's 14 pounds! The same book at home would be half that price!
Anyway, that brings me up to now where it's 7.30pm and I'm pretty stuck for things to do! I've had dinner and there's no-one around I know as most of them left yesterday! I think I'll just read my new book.
Lots of love from NZ!
