Hello World!
Sorry I haven't done a blog in so long, Iv'e been a busy bee!
Having arrived in Sydney on the 4th of march at about 10.00pm we we told that our hostel was about 30mins out of the centre. We then got some dodgy directions from the concierge at the airport and were on our way. It was a pretty long journey. We changed trains twice and buses twice as well! It took us three hours and then next morning we got a direct bus to the centre which took much less time and was way cheaper!
We met up with Gerard the next day which was awesome. Nice to have a bit of a group going now. As expected we did all of the touristy stuff. Went to the Opera House, up the sky tower. Walked under and around Sydney Harbour Bridge and went to the aquarium and wildlife park too. That was our second day and on the third me and Gerard went to bondi to try our hand at surfing. it was pretty impossible not gonna lie. There were rip tides, strong currents, massive waves, shore dump all in shallow water. Body surfing was insane but the actual surfing part was pretty frickin hard!
The next day we chilled out on our beach did some body boarding, tried some more surfing and made a pretty dodgy but good fun barbeque on the communal barbie right on the beach.
That evening we left for Byron Bay where we are now which took about 13 hours. it was overnight and I have never found it harder to sleep. Terrible times. i managed about half an hour! I couldn't get comfortable and when I did my head jolted and I woke up. So that was good but at about 7.30am we finally arrived. It was nice and bright that early which was a nice greeting. We got a mini bus from the bus stop to out hostel even though it was about 300 metres down the road.
That was yesterday morning and we spend the whole day on the beach just swimming and sun bathing. I would like you to know my tan is coming on like a dream! the 30+ weather has made it too easy! being careful with cream though after being quite badly burnt in Koh Samui.
Last night was Sangria and BBQ night at the hostel which was bloody brillant! Few beers, lots of Sangria and then hitting up the nightlife in Byron!! cracking fun! loads of travellers from all over the place. Tonnes of awesome people in the hostel too. Today we rented surfboards as the waves are amazing here! Hostel is a 30 second walk to Byron Beach which is stunning. About 50 yards out from the beach is an old ship wreck where all the surfers getthe waves beacuse they build and break so well across the wreck.
Pretty scary as I was chatting with one of the local surfers and he said he and his friend were charged by a bull shark right on the beach while they were surfing about a year ago. And a few months ago there was a 6 metre tiger shark which passed just under his surfboard about a metre away from him. Enough to keep me out of the water anyway...
Hope all is good in the crap heap of England!!!

Mattr Wow sounds so good :-D heard you went skydiving or something today! hope you don't get attacked by a shark ;-) xxxxxx
FM We now have an Australian surfer Dude.. !! You will be pleased to know we are all still freezing in the UK but it is getting brighter. The news of the tan didn't enhance the mood. So pleased you have having a great time. Miss you loads FM xx
GEEZA (ben) i dissagree with matt, I hope the shark gets you so you don't have to write about you having a cracking time..Anyway, have fun ; )
mum Maybe stick to some surfing in Cornwall without the sharks ! What about deadly spiders , come across those under the loo seat yet? xx
Ben Yes the surfing in Cornwall is definitely safer and easier! We saw a redback spider in the shower which was pretty scary, apparently they can kill you if they bite you! No I didn't go skydiving, Tom did. It was too expensive, i want to do it in NZ where its cheaper. it costs 350 pounds here! I want to do a bungy jump too but they are really expensive as well about 130. Missing everyone and staying sharkbite free... for now...
