Another beautiful day in paradise!
Up at 0730 hrs this morning to hit the seas and see what was underneath.
Snorkelling today and Shark Watching tomorrow. Arrived at the dive shop to get our shorty suits and snorkels and headed off to the boat. The water around here is lovely and warm and mostly quite clear.
We headed off to Phi Phi Lay, the adjacent island to the one we are staying on and firstly went to a lovely lagoon which apparently gets cut off from the sea at low tide. Lovely clear bay.
We then headed round the island and saw Viking Cave where there are many birds nesting and the local climb the bamboo to collecf the nests for....you guessed it, Birds Nest Soup.....apparently!
Then we headed round the corner a bit more and got back into the sea and snorkelled for what seemed an age. We sae many small fish and a Moray Eel but nothing more exciting I am afraid. A Thai girl on the trip seemed to swallow too much sea water and was sick. Amanda wasn't too good either but survived.
We ten headed round to 'The Beach' - Maya Bay! I have been meaning to try and watch the film here before seeing the bay for real as it's been a while since I saw it, but we didn't have time. Needless to say, it IS a beautiful bay and worthy of film material, except now it is a tourist sight and the bay was bombed with boats and fat people, so I fitted in well :-)
I got some photos but they are on the underwater camera which is only 35mm so we will have to wait for those to be developed and loaded up. Need to get another film for tomorrow as we are Shark Watching - Snorkelling on the Reef to see Black Tipped Sharks, Cool!
So, another day, another update!
See you all tomorrow
