Greetings All,
Still unable to add any of my own pics as yet but hope to try tonight.
We are now in Phi Phi Don Island and staying in Ton Sai Bay.
[Sunday] We arrived yesterday by ferry and as soon as we arrived I felt more relaxed. This was more like what we were looking for from this trip. We made it off the boat and the hotel liason was waiting for us to transport the luggae to our hotel. There are no roads on this island so that means no cars or mopeds, no noise.....
We wlaked with the guy who was wheelbarrowing our gear to the hotel, the short walk along the small streets to the Banyan Resort, right on the beach. All the streets were lined with little market stalls and many dive shops, lots more backpackers and English speaking people here, feel much safer already!
Hotel is ok, clean, tv, shower etc. Bit noisey but hey, can't complain all the time (well, I seem to be able to :-)) The area is great. Lovely sunny day, nice harbour with lots of Longtail boats waiting to take you around the island. The sea-going Tuk Tuk's.
It was nice not to be hassled into buyinmg things at the market stalls like we have done everywhere else. I hate being followed around the shop as if we are going to nick something, over zealous selling makes me want to leave. Desperate for money I guess since the Tsunami. But here it is different. It's great.
I can't believe the amount of internet cafe's here. One every few yards. Amazing. Dive shops galore and the restaurants are much better and the fish, well, everythign you could want. Marlin Steaks, Sail Fish, Barracuda, Tuna, Snapper, Squid, Lobster, Tiger Prawns, King Prawns, Crabs, Musscles, Grouper, you name it.
After wandering round the makets we headed to a restaurant and I had Barracuda and Amanda had White Snapper, with Jacket Potato and all done on the BBQ. Lovely. We ate as we watched a very dark storm heading towards us from across the sea. The lightning was fantastic and fortunately it blew past us without a drop of rain.
As we were suffering from an over endulgence from the previous evening, we headed to bed early after a 'Bucket' of Vodka and coke and planned our day for tomorrow.
Speak tomorrow
