23rd April 2005 - BANGKOK. There's one place you must see when visiting Bangkok, The Grand Palace. The Grand Palace isn't just one building. It is like a city within walls and has a number of Wat's, Halls, a mansion and the most important piece; The Temple of the Emerald Budda. You must take of your shoes to go inside, a simple task you might think. But when the florr has had the sun beating down on it all day this can be a little tricky. I opted for a tip toe hopping style to get me all the way top the entrance. Once inside it is much cooler and you can se the Emerald budda at the top of a series of golden pillars. The Budda itself is actually made of jade and is only 75cm in height. This is a very precious item to the thai people. They believe that whilst it remains in their possesion they are safe. The belief is so strong that the King himself is the only person to touch and change the clothes of the small budda statue. After the Grand Palace, we stumbled over the biggest kite fair. Sig was nearly decapitated, as a kite string taggled his fat head! Later we visited Ko Sahn Road for some shopping. Sig insisted on buying 2 vests!!!! (not gay, honest). We bumped in to our policeman friend and tuk tuk driver again! and they remembered us and spoke to us asking what we'd been up to. Again this just goes to show how nice people are.
