Vic & Sig's Adventure 2005 - Bluefootedboobie !!
Sigs View on Thailand:
Hello all - well 3 weeks into our 8 month adventure and so far so good! Its really been such a fantastic time already, maybe that'll change once we exit holiday mode and have to start killing for our food. We seen so much so far but i though i'd concentrate on some of the more important things: Transport, beer, and the ladyboys!
Firstly Transport: this aside from two dogs getting stuck together after having doggie sex has been the highlight of my adventure so far. We went from hanging on, diving through Bangkok traffic, in a tuk tuk to riding an elephant through rivers in Chang Mai. In Koh Tao we rode on the back of a truck and have been on numerious "so called" vip Busses (Strange but my idea of VIP doesn't include dropping you off at 2am to sleep on a tiled floor :) BUT the best form of transport so far has to be the homemade motorbike and side car combo - here on Phi Phi.
We're staying in a simple but nice shack just ten minutes up the road from where the volunteer meetings are held each night - this isn't a problem but it means at 6.30 each evening we've had to sneak past the Thai couple living next door to us (a feat we haven't actually achieved yet) The guy, who i'm feeling more and more uneasy about after a kissing incident, has a scooter which he has build a wooden sculpture around to resemble three more seats (a common vehicle here) and each night he's "Kindly" taken Vee, myself and his Pregnant wife on a white kuckle adventure down to the main street. (he seems to like it when i scream like a girl - something i'm going to have to try and control and possibly a provacation behind the kissing incident - nuff said!)
The next two will be briefer: the Ladieboy's, please excuse the pun, but seem to have dried up here! Even in Bangkok to my untrained eye there wasn't as many as we expected - O Contrair! Their there but their pretty convincing! their a bit like "batman" at night they walk the streets but during the day they seem to have pretty normal jobs - and it's not until the guy passes you your BigMac that you notice how well manicured his nails are (it could put you off your food - but hasn't with me so far!) Since deciding we we're gonna try and get a "spot the lady boy" comp going they've been almost non-exhistant (maybe if Vic's facial hair developes any further we'll still run with the competition) Keep Posted!
And Finally on my "important" things to know about Thailand: The local beer is Chang! this is a strong, yet manageable, tasty bevarage. The word on the street is although it's labled up at 6.5% a bottle can be anything up to 14% and is rumoured to contain amphetamines. I know what your thinking - yer right! - well i though the same too ....... Until ..... This giant Lizard got into our room. Beating him off with No more than my bear hands and my trusty vest i managed to save us from almost certain consumption!
A HERO! although Vee 'Reckons' she saw the whole thing and it just looked like some tribal vest dance ......WHATEVER!
