So only six hours left in Australia. Can't believe we have been away a month already. Time has gone very quickly. We have had such an amazing time here and really fallen in love with Oz.
Melbourne is a beautiful city. Very very green - lots of lovely parkland and with river Yarra running through the middle - lots of opportunities for lazing by the riverbank watching all the energetic people rowing and jogging and cycling etc.
The architecture in the city is amazing the old right in the middle of the new. There are some fab pretty futuristic buildings and very ingenious bridges!!!
We headed into the city with our friends on Monday - 6 kids between us !!!! And had lazy lunch and then a cruise down the river which was excellent past loads of things out to the port which is huge and the busiest in Australia. The boats that come along the river have to be very low and flat as the bridges are so low - sometimes on a high tide they can't get under!!!
We then had a wander through the botanical gardens and along past all the uni boathouses.
Tues we took stinky bus back and had couple hours in city and wed went in again this time heading out to one of the beaches at St Kilda. All very pleasant.
Have had some fantastic food - loads and loads of veggie choice which makes a change!!!
Melbourne very different to Sydney - can't really compare them. Seems more relaxed and laid back than Sydney and less flashy. Great little transport system and easy to get around boys loved the novelty of trams ( although they stop so often takes forever to get anywhere!!!).
Boys have loved having friends to play with and even though Sam hasn't seen Amity since he was two they have got on like a house on fire which has been lovely. We have been very well looked after and are very grateful to our hosts for their hospitality!!
Think we are all going to be a little sad to leave oz but are very much looking forward to the next adventure!!
Next stop new Zealand!!!
