Did you know? The Japanese read from right to left and from top to bottom. Their books are bound on the right side. Perhaps the whole world knew but me, bit I thought it was interesting.
Traveling to Yakushima today on a high speed ferry. A man from Japan kept feeding me beer last night. They were good but the morning was rough. I missed the early ferry this morning so had to wait until noon. Walking to the port this morning, I got covered in ash from a nearby volcano. That was different and not refreshing.
Went to Yakushima island and rented a car for 2 days. That car was my house for 2 days as I slept there both nights, a little hot but it saved me close to 10 000 yen. Highlights included waking up next to monkeys, hot springs, the beaches, full moon party with tug-of-war competition and eating amazing "baked flying fish". Also, I stopped to see a monkey then he jumped on the car. The only way to get him off the car was to start driving away. On the ferry back, I noticed a man had one of his compartments to his bag open so I informed him of that. His response was that he wants to show me around Tokyo, (his hometown). What wondeful people. If you ever run into a Japanese person who needs help with anything, make sure to help because they certainly would help you if you were in Japan!
