Amazing day!!!
Just back from a wicked bar called Brown Eyes where we played pool with the locals and I drank one too many potent cocktails!!
I left Rob dancing away and he eventually rolled in after 2am. We both had a blast!
Before going to the bar, in the morning we went to the Citadel in Hue. A wonderful palace built in the 19 hundreds for the Emperor and his concubines.
We then realised we had missed the tour to the tombs so decided to try our luck at a local tourist information booth to see what other options there were.
We eventually decided to be driven on mopeds to the tombs and conical hat/incense making village.
Having agreed a price and practically begging for two helmets instead of one we were confused to be asked for our passports and then handed a key and map.
All became clear when we realised our wishes had got lost in translation and the lady thought we had wanted to ride ourselves (Rob and I can't even cross the road over here without getting confused and coupled this with the traffic in Hue city there is no way we would have survived trying to find the tombs on our own!!).
There was more drama when we asked for a driver and only one came. We finally got what we needed and another driver turned up and off we headed through the streets of Hue towards our little adventure!
Rob was very manly and held on to the back of the bike whilst I unashamedly hugged the life out of my drivers waist.
As we weaved in and out of the traffic we both got more into the experience and were soon pulling out our iPhones to film and take photos along the way :)
The whole afternoon was fantastic.
About 25 mins from Hue city centre was the first tomb and then another 10 mins from there was the tomb of Tu Duc.
On the way back we were going to see the hat and incense making village but ended up driving straight past it as the driver confused us by asking if we wanted to stop at what looked like rows of market stalls by the road.
When we returned to drop the bikes off we said we hadn't seen the village yet and it took 5 mins to realise the market stalls were the village.
We then rode all the way back to see them and also ended up popping into a Pegoda where we lit some incense we had bought at the village and listened to the monks chant afternoon prayers.
We both absolutely loved the moped rides and followed this experience by meeting two lovely girls in a Tshirt shop near our hotel and then heading over to Brown Eyes for a night of pool, drinks and fun with the staff.
This was defo our best day yet.
When we left the bar to buy another Tshirt and returned shortly after, Tom and Thuey (bar staff) cheered us back in and high fived us as they set up another game of pool. (we felt fab with this welcome back greeting!).
A truly wonderful day from start to end and many fab memories made in such a short time :0
