Boxing Day and our first day of the Open Water scuba diving course!
Today we met our instructor, Wayne. He seems like a really nice guy who took up diving about 3 years ago.
He is Canadian and our classroom sessions go well and he is easy to understand and very patient with all our questions!
The afternoon we spend in the pool learning about our scuba equipment and doing some water skills.
Going underwater and breathing for the first time was very strange and freaked me out a bit.
Rob loved it straight away though I needed a little time to get used to the feeling of breathing underwater.
Overall Wayne said our first day had gone really well. We were a little behind with our water skills but ahead of things in the academic element which.
As the boat is being fixed tomorrow we swapped things around and will do a tour tomorrow instead and complete day 2&3 of diving on Weds & Thursday.
Even though I have wanted to learn to Scuba dive for a couple of years, I'm not convinced now that it is for me!
Time will tell over the next few days and Rob and I need to study a few more chapters, become more familiar with our RDPs (Recreational Dive Planner) and prepare for our final exam (or 'celebration of learning' as Wayne calls it !)
Tomorrow we go on a tour to the monkey cave and James Bond Island - a day of fun is defo needed!
Over and out
