Today we leave Mexico. We´ve had great fun here but to be fair so have the mosquitos and sand flies.
We flew into Mexico city on the 13th of June, not very long to see this big country. But luckily we had our Mexican adopted parents Luis senior and Chela to give us advice and show us some places.
Some of the things we did with them were went to hot springs, saw some beautiful churches, went to the beach, ate seafood including heaps and heaps of lobster, saw a ship wreck, ate lots of traditional food. Also went shopping for cheap shoes and clothes. Not to mention the incredibly huge pyrimids at Teotihuacan. Luisito had also organised for some of his friends to show us some nightlife in Mexico City- it was great, especially the churros and hot chocolate.
Belinda got a chest infection while we were there, and we were lucky that Chela is a doctor. Luis plotted out a rough itinery for the remaining week of our travels, and then, teary eyed, we set off on our own.
After a 20 hour bus ride, we arrived at Merida, from where we visited the ruins of Uxmal, and saw some traditional dancing, went to the zoo and got rained on. Then it was onto Tulum, with a stop at the ruins of Chichen Itza. At Tulum, more ruins, the beach and also swam in a cenote, which is like a big cave with water in it- you can swim underground, and the water is so clear. Our last stop was Cancun, where we just chilled out on the beach with thousands of other people.
We´re very sad to be leaving the Americas, and so are our wallets- next stop is Europe.
